Is your Holiday Email
Marketing Campaign Ready? It should be.
I know, I
know, you are thinking "What, it isn't even Labor Day yet!".
It may seem early, but in order to compete you need to start
early and you need to plan even earlier. You do not want
to start thinking about what you are going to do November 1.
You should already be doing it.
Start with this Checklist
Start working on optimizing your e-mail programs. Now
is a great time to create and test email strategies. Test
different subject lines, test different offers. Which
works better for you - 10% off or $10 off? Having an idea
of what triggers sales for your email list will help you to have
a better holiday season. November is not the time to be
testing. That is the time to be knowing.
Give your
E-mail Messages a Facelift
If you
send the same old email message out month after month, people
will start to ignore it or even assume it is the same old stuff.
You want to keep a general look so they know who it is from, but
you need to jazz it up with different fonts, colors and images.
Improve
the email content, too. Your e-mails should say more than "Buy
Now!"
-
Add testimonials and
product reviews.
-
Add information on
how to use your products. Example - The Olive Cellar sends
out recipes using their products.
-
Add links to social
media such as FaceBook or Twitter.
-
Add some personality
to make your e-mails sound like a letter from a friend and not
just a sales pitch.
Plan Your Holiday
Campaign Strategy
Set deadlines for creative work and know what offers you
will be sending and when, including execution dates. Review what
has worked in the past and think about how you can improve on
them.
Ideas from Holidays Past
Here are
some things that have worked for clients in the past that you
might want to try this year:
-
Create campaigns
with gift suggestions by gender, age, and budget.
-
Communicate
urgency and cater to last-minute shoppers ("only X days
until the shipping cut-off date").
-
Promote gift
certificates for last minute shoppers or for people who are
hard to buy for.
-
Plan to target
gift certificate recipients in January
-
Offer free
shipping for early shoppers
-
How about the
"12 Deals of Christmas"?
How you promote your
products and services for the holiday is open to your
imagination. The important thing is to start thinking and
planning for it now. Don't wait until it is too late and
have to play catch up with your competitors who are planning
now.

Saving Cash
Magazine - Redesign Project |
|
Saving Cash
Magazine is a direct mail advertising magazine that is
full of money saving coupons from businesses in the
Appleton and Green Bay, Wisconsin areas. We
designed their first site in 2007. Earlier this
year, they wanted to go with a cleaner, fresher look to
their site. The response has been great!

Tips for Selecting
Successful Search Terms
Keyword
research is important to the success of your online
marketing. What are the terms your potential
clients are using? How competitive are these
search terms? What search terms should you use for
link building?
Determine what terms your potential clients are
using.
The best way to do this is to listen to what they
are asking you. If they ask, "do you sell pink
wizzy gigs?" Then a search term would be "Pink Wizzy
Gigs".
Sometimes
clients call things by the wrong name. You should
select those "wrong" search terms. Once customers
are at your site, then educate them.
Identify Your Targets
We'd all love to rank well for the most general and
all-encompassing search phrase related to our topic, but
only a handful ever will. Select search phrases of 3 to
5 words that are targeted to what you offer. This
tactic may bring you less traffic, but the traffic it
brings will be more qualified.
Use Local Search Terms
One area small to mid-sized websites can really find a
competitive edge is in locally-specific search phrases.
These are inherently less competitive and therefore are
easier to rank well for. If you only do business in a
local area (within 50 miles or even within a few states)
use that to your advantage. No reason to have your
site appear in California if you don't so business
there.
Review your Site Analytics
One of the great benefits of web analytics is that it
allows you to monitor keyword referrals. In other words,
you can find out what visitors are searching for when
they land at your site. If your hosting company
does not offer web analytics, Google Analytics offers
great information. |
