How can
I boosting my conversion rates?
First, what is a "conversion rates"? Conversion rates are
the percent or number of visitors that actually buy your
product or service. On average you can expect a conversion
rate of 0.5% to 3% range. Or, for every 100 visitors your
site has, 3 or less will buy.
The best way to boost conversion
rates is to apply direct marketing principles to your
website. Sell your visitors on how your product/service will
fulfill their need. There is a radio commercial locally that
is selling Farmland Bacon. During the whole commercial you
hear bacon frying in a pan. The image it brings to mind is
Sunday mornings with my Grandma making breakfast. They are
not selling "bacon", they are selling the homey feeling I
get when I hear bacon frying. Your website should be doing
the same. Don't sell the "product", sell the "sizzle".
The other things you can
do is:
- Make site easy to use:
Can I find the product I want quickly? Are photos of
excellent quality and fast loading? Does the look and
feel of the site make me want to go get a cup of tea and
browse?
- Easy to order: Is
it easy to add a product to my "basket"? Is the
"checkout" button easy to find?
- Accept Credit Cards:
If you do not accept credit cards then you are "missing
the boat". People are using the Internet for speed
and ease. Once they find what they want they do not want
to call you to order it. (Unless it is a large or specs
specific product).
- Secure ordering:
Internet users are wiser and for the most part will not
order anything unless the ordering process is secure.
- Target marketing your
site: The more targeted your marketing is, the
higher your conversion rate will be.
